Im currently finishing off reading 'catch and kill your own' by Arthur 'neddy' smith. its a true crime book written by a well known sydney crim currently doing life. its really good mainly because its all set in my home town of sydney so im fascinated by everthing that smith says 'allegedly' happened. Anybody who has seen blue murder or has an interest in police corruption or mob crime should give it a look. its fairly old but surprisingly fresh!

Ooh, I recently read a book that jumped straight to my all-time fave list. "The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier & Clay" by Michael Chabon. Seriously, if you've ever read a comic book in your life, you should read this book. Great characterisation, epic storyline, and comics. It also mentions Superman quite a bit.
And less off-topicy (which is *so* a word), everyone should check their local newsagency or comic shop for "Superman: Birthright". I just picked up my copy yesterday and it's amazing. It's going to be a 12 issue series, I think, which will integrate a lot of the Smallville storyline into the story of how Clark becomes Superman. Mark Waid is the writer and that's all you really need to know....oh, and the fact that Lex is in it (not the first issue, but soon) and he *was* friends with Clark in Smallville but has erased that part of his life for some reason we are yet to learn. Also, they've drawn Clark to look like Tom Welling - never a bad thing.

I'm currently reading another Michael Chabon novel - "Summerland". It's about werefoxes and fairies and baseball...trust me, it works.
Also, to confirm my comic book geek status, the 2nd issue of SUperman: Birthright is out now. There's one scene where Clark goes back to the farm after being away and he asks his parents how Lana is (she's left somewhere and they haven't heard from her). He then asks about Lex and they show an empty space amongst the photos on the wall and Martha looks sad. It almost broke my heart! I can't wait to find out what happened between them all.

Yep. Pete and Lana are married, but at the moment, it's on the rocks because Lana is being a little weird about Clark (who is married to Lois and very much in love with her, aside from the little moments with Lex). Pete is actually working for Lex who is the President of USA (for now - Batman and Superman are working on that in a brand new title as we speak). He could be Vice-President, I'm not sure, but he spends a lot of time in Lex's office, anyway. Chloe is not in the comics. She was created for "Smallville" (as was Whitney). That's why people are worried about her character towards the end of the show's run. But! Until Birthright, Lex wasn't in Smallville, either (if we're talking post-crisis at least - this is where it gets way too complicated), so you never know what'll happen.

OMG!! lol that is so weird!!!! *g* I'm seriously considering shipping Lana and pete in Smallville now... hehehe at least that'll give Pete more screen time, and it doesn't interfere with Chloe/ Lex...
I heard that Pete works for Lex... which was a hard enough concept to get over... but...! lol don't mind me...

I read "See No Evil" which is one of the Smallville titles (for younger readers, I think) and I can't remember the name of the authors atm.
But there was *really* great Clex. In fact, you can just dismiss the entire freak-of-the-week subplot and simply have fun with the characters interacting with each other...kind of like a Season One episode in that regard *g*.
Also, everyone should check out the Batgirl comics which I've only recently discovered. The Cass version, not the Barbara Gordon one. She's an amazing character and I'm kind of liking the Batgirl/Superboy ship a lot. See? I can do het on occasion. Heh.
