3.01 - Exile (Season 3 Premiere)

Under the influence of red kryptonite and living in Metropolis, Clark (Tom Welling) gets involved with a crime lord named Morgan Edge (guest star Rutger Hauer) who hires him to break into LuthorCorp. Meanwhile, desperate to put his family back together, Jonathan takes drastic measures to bring Clark home. At the mansion, Lionel (John Glover) accuses Helen (Emmanuelle Vaugier) of killing Lex (Michael Rosenbaum).

Kristin Kreuk, Allison Mack, Sam Jones III and Annette O'Toole also star.

Hey

My name is Jarrad, nick name Rasso, and im gonna write reviews for all of the season 3 episodes so that people know what they are like seeing Channel 9 probably wont show them for a long time. For those interested, I have both Season 1 and Season 2 DVD sets from Canada and they work on Multi Region DVD players, which is most DVD players. Season 3 DVD Boxset will be released between September and December this year. Thats the latest word.

EXILE:

Exile starts three months after the cliffhanger that was left with us at the end of Exodus. Clark is roaming around in Metropolis, buying fancy cars, smashing atms, taking pretty girls to the night club...everything Bad Clark with his little Red ring would do.

Back at the Kent Farm everyone is really worried about him, and the Kents can no longer afford to pay for the farm so they are moving into the small room above the Talon.

Lex is meanwhile stranded out on an island and starts talking to some native that he meets but he doesnt realise till the ned that hes a wacko and hes seeing things and that hes fighting with himself.

Clark stops some crooks from robbing a bank but then ends up robbing the bank himself. Morgan Edge, from the comics, hears of Clark and goes to see him. He offers Clark a large sum of money to steal a package from the Luthor building.

The funeral for Lex takes place where the feeling is that Lionel sent the plane down. Helen comes along and further pushes the point. Lana looks around and catches a glimpse of Clark but he disappears before she can do anything about it.

Chloe visits Clark and they have a wild verbal fight before Clark goes nuts and has to take off his ring. Once the ring comes off, the 8 sign on his chest stops burning.

Chloe tells Lana where Clark is and Lana is annoyed at Chloe, She finds Clark and then Clark takes her along to a nightclub where Lana rings Jonathan to let him know where Clark is.

Lex is on the island still and his native friend tries to kill him because there is only enough room/food i dunno for one of them to survive. In his brain Lex kills the native and goes paranoid but when some Jamacian arrives, Lex realises that there was never actually anyone there.

Jonathan decides that he needs to bring Clark home so he goes to the caves and yells at Jor El. Jonathan tells Jor El that hed do anything to bring Clark back and a huge white light streams though him.

Clark takes up Morgan Edge's offer and is on his way when Jonathan arrives outside the vault, and he has Superman powers, and so the Clark v Father battle begins and the screen says To Be Continued as the two fall from the top of a skyscraper.

Rasso's Thoughts:

I loved this episode. There was a lot of special effects in this episode. Clark blowing up the police vehicle was a favourite of mine as well as him dodging the bullets in the bank. The visuals in the episode were stunning and nearly every scene kept me focussed on the story.

The Lex scenes werent my favourite. The backgrounds were obviously paintings and watching those scenes kinda bored me cause I wanted to know what was going on with Clark and what Lana and Jonathan are trying to do.

Another great scene was the one where Jonathan comforts Martha who is terribly upset about losing the farm. He tells her that they'll have happy days again and Clark overhears them. The music is great, the idea is great and the camera techiniques are fabulous.

I really enjoyed this episode as I said. I love Clana and so seeing Lana go after Clark was great for me and my fellow shippers and then their kiss in the nightclub proved that even on the ring, Clark still loves her. (Until she backstabs him of course)

Overall, great episode, feel sorry for my fellow Aussies who wont see this eppy until probably 2005-6, if at all.

Q: If you say it was great who only 9?
A: Like I said, I didnt like the Lex scenes. Or the Helen/Lionel scenes. The rest was awesome though.
