Hey everyone
Jarrad here again.
Some of you might have known, but my Grandma gave me the Season 2 DVD Boxset for my 16th Birthday.
The Season Two DVD Set has all 23 episodes in the series from Vortex through to Exodus. Each episode is presented in Widescreen Format and the Audio is in 2.0 I think.
The episodes look fantastic in Widescreen view and the picture is crystal clear which is great seeing the reception was dodgy on Channel 9 on some of the nights Smallville Season 2 was on.
There are also some really cool special features on disc 6 once again, but are easily better than the ones on the first season set.
* Commentary on two episodes : Red and Rosetta
There are four different commentaries, two on each of the episodes. For both episodes there is a Al Gough/Miles Millar commentary and the other includes cast members: Michael Rosenbaum, Tom Welling and Kristin Kreuk, as well as the episode director. These commentaries are really funny to listen to and give good insight into how the episode was made.
* Faster Than A Speeding Bullet: The Visual FX of Smallville
A short documentary that is great for Smallville fans. It shows you some of the best special effects from the second series and how they were made. There are some great behind the scene secrets from Vortex, Insurgence and Accelerate.
* Christopher Reeve: The Man of Steel
This documentary is about Christopher Reeve and his character in Rosetta. Regular cast members comment about him and there are other interviews with the shows producers and Reeve himself.
* The Chloe Chronicles
The Chloe Cronicles are also included on the set. Australia viewers probably wouldnt have seen the mini series before seeing it aired on The WB and the episodes around when it aired have not been showed in Australia. The first is about Dr Jenkins and the rest revolve around Dr Walsh and a creepy Donovan character.
* Deleted Scenes
There are deleted scenes from: Heat, Duplicity, Dichotic, Prodigal, Fever and Exodus. Some of these are good, but some of them were left out because they were pointless.
* Gag Reel
This is a very good special feature and it is very very funny. Even my dad enjoyed it and he isnt Smallville's greatest fan. It was funny to see how many times Michael Rosenbaum (Lex) purposely stuffed up, or was funny on set. There were some good Clana scenes that had some bloopers including the kiss from Red.
** I do not know when the Australian version of the DVD set will be released but I doubt it will be before the rest of the series is shown on Channel 9. Season 2 DVD set was released in America and Canada on May 18th 2004 and will be released in Region 2, Great Britian on July 19th.**
